Sport is becoming increasingly lucrative as the global sports sponsorship market is projected to increase from 58 billion euros in 2021 to 100 billion euros by 2030, as reported by PwC. Fashion and luxury sectors are playing a crucial role by investing significant amounts in major events, teams and sports personalities. From LVMH’s 150 million partnership with the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, whose budget is estimated at over 4 billion, to Zegna’s deal with Real Madrid, Gucci’s sponsorship of Jannik Sinner, and Formula 1’s sponsorships ranging from 1 to 65 million dollars depending on whether they are single races or circuit partnerships.

The iconic partnership inked between the Group of Bernard Arnault and the Olympic committee will necessitate the involvement of distinguished brands including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Moet Hennessy, Chaumet to fashion the medals, and Berluti to style the French team for the opening ceremony. For the first time, the upcoming games will showcase athletes who have benefitted from the sponsorship of the opulent conglomerate through its two major labels. These include renowned swimmer Léon Marchand, artistic gymnast Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos, winner of the European Championships, and Enzo Lefort, a skilled fencer. In European football, Zegna is the official travelwear partner of Real Madrid. Moncler has been dressing Inter Milan off the pitch from 2021, while Off-White signed a deal with AC Milan in 2022 as the style & culture curator. Emporio Armani reconfirmed its partnership with Napoli, and Juventus renewed its partnership with Loro Piana. Jannik Sinner’s appearance at Wimbledon with a Gucci duffel bag, which he endorses as an ambassador, has generated considerable attention. Forbes estimates that F1’s teams values have risen on average to 1.7 billion dollars, an increase of 276% compared to 2019, as Formula 1 has become increasingly popular. (All rights reserved)
