Chez Rick Owens. As recounted by the Los Angeles designer, his parisian dwelling on Place du Bourbon is precisely «where we started selling our collections 25 years ago». This space, which is constantly expanding, now features all the details of Owens’ new furniture line. These details serve as the stargate to a distant journey, accompanied by a hypnotic melody, a remix of David Bowie’s Warszawa.

«The first time I heard this song was during a student dance theater rehearsal at Porterville Community College in 1977. The vulnerability and desire for dignity in that song resonated with me then, just as they do today. In the spirit of community, I invited some of my favorite utopian creatives». He talks about Porterville, California, his hometown, because the sense of belonging never fades. On stage, elements from this world that has always surrounded him come to life.

Artists like Steven from Fecal Matter and Gena Marvin parade on stage, alternating with silhouettes expressing the designer’s aesthetic dreams. «The proportions of this collection are grotesque and inhuman in a howling reaction to some of the most disappointing human behavior we will witness in our lifetime» the designer added. At Paris Fashion Week, Owens breathes new life into his already attention-grabbing silhouettes, transforming them into monumental, statuesque forms, evoking dreams of mythological creatures and post-atomic armor. Inflatable boots become aerodynamic sculptures, woolen waves serve as mega cocoons for protection, and cargo jumpsuits with zips blur the lines between fetish and biker culture.

Some jackets and trousers are made from recycled bicycle tires, crafted by Matisse Di Maggio, a member of the Parisian Bdsm scene and rubber-wear specialist. The collaboration with Italy continues with capsules featuring Bonetto and sustainable practices aimed at reducing water waste in the production of jeans. These unique pieces are manufactured by a Veneto-based company located near Venice, a city that holds a special place in Owen’s heart.

Judgment. The empty space, adorned with few white decorations, deliberately contrasts with silhouettes seemingly descended from another world. Faces painted with alien-like black lines, heads covered by funnel-neck sweaters, soaring shoulders, and the subtle sound of boots suggest that something is about to happen. Initially intimidating and terrifying, this vision ultimately captivates, leaving an addictive impression. Rick Owens’ aesthetics become an obsession. (All rights reserved)
