Looking at the performance of listed fashion stocks over the past seven years, from an analysis by eToro, the best ones are Lvmh (+1.94%) and Salvatore Ferragamo (+1.87%). The weakest, however, are Capri Holdings, PVH and Ralph Lauren
While Milan fashion week is underway, Gabriel Debach, Italian market analyst at eToro, presented a focus on listed companies and their returns during the last fashion weeks. From the beginning of the year until September 19, the evolution observed on the main listed luxury companies does not show the best of results, with only about ten stocks outperforming the All Country World Index (Acwi). It is an index on international equities that tracks stocks from 23 developed and 24 emerging country markets.
The study includes Pvh, Salvatore Ferragamo and Prada among the best performing companies. The expert also analyzed the previous Milan Fashion Weeks, from 2015 to 2021, and the results show positive average returns four out of seven years, namely in 2021, 2020, 2017 and 2016. «However, the average rises of the stocks analyzed show returns higher than market movements in only two years: in 2020 and in 2017,» Debach explained.
Looking at average returns obtained by each stock over the years, eToro’s analyst highlighted LMVH (+1.94%), Salvatore Ferragamo (+1.87%) and Tod’s (+1.76%) as the best performing companies. On the other end of the ranking (excluding Dr. Martens which has only the 2021 historical and e-commerce company stocks, ed.), we find Capri Holdings (-2.72%), PVH (-2.02%) and Ralph Lauren (-1.67%) in comparison to an average of -0.30% and an Acwi of +0.4%.
