EnglishMarni celebrates art of skilled craftsmanship at the Paris fashion week
«Enhancing all that we have learned during our years of travel, is how being here feels», Francesco Risso, creative director of the Otb’s brand, said to MFF. Adorned with flower constructions and tin architecture, the building where Karl Lagerfeld lived is where the fashion show takes place. «We have not decided if we want to continue to move around, but I do feel like returning to Milan»
«It feels like my first fashion show. I have never brought the runway here before», Francesco Risso said, reminiscing about his trip to Paris with Marni during a preview the day prior to the event. As he greeted the press on the last floor of Renzo Rosso’s Otb-Only the brave headquarters, which is tastefully decorated with paintings on the walls and ceiling, the space exudes a genuine atelier vibe.
«With the journeys we have taken over the past two years, I have played the role of a flâneur, receiving different brand perspectives at each stop», he said to MFF. «Being here celebrates everything we have learned and confirmed our codes. The city helps to provide a beautiful and magical experience». Risso particularly recalls his teenage travels to Paris as a visitor of his friend’s aunt who used to live on Rue de l’Université, where the brand showcased its collection on the runway at the Hôtel Particulier formerly owned by Karl Lagerfeld. «As kids, we enjoyed watching him from the window when he got out. Returning here now evokes a flood of emotions». The remembrance of a scent, the admiration of beauty and skill, enhance the viewer’s experience. «It is a tribute to the team’s hard work and practice, as well as a celebration of joy».
Marni’s collection showed exceptional craftsmanship through its endless pursuit of creating almost couture designs, such as gowns, capes, and short dresses with hand-sewn flowers on cotton. In addition, the collection features coats embellished with suede and leather, single-piece knitwear comprising pants, jackets, and dresses, and even boots that celebrate a sock and a pump. The brand’s patterns blend in a joyful array of checks, stripes, and flowers. Additionally, there are unique, whimsical pieces crafted from cans that form couture structures of flowers, leading to an almost fantastic realm, making it the perfect conclusion to the tour of Marni’s universe.
Judgment. «I often repeat the phrase ‘Undress your mind, dress your senses’ in reference to the collection», Francesco Risso stated, who leverages the full potential of his atelier to showcase his talent and make an impact in Paris, achieving results that approach couture quality. «As for future travels, I am not yet certain and must make a decision soon! I am eager to return to Milan», the designer said. (All rights reserved)
