In Louis Vuitton’s wild wild west

«Paris LVirginia». The large sign outside the runway leaves no room for doubt. For his latest menswear show, Pharrell Williams decided to take Louis Vuitton’s aesthetic to his American homeland, Virginia, infusing the collection with a spirit reminiscent of the wild west. The fashion show unfolds within the grand setting of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, creating an ambiance akin to a cinematic experience. Drawing inspiration from the Wild wild west tv series and the movie starring Will Smith and Kevin Kline, as well as the dusty atmosphere of David Lynch’s Wild at heart, the collection features python jackets that would have surely caught the eye of Nicolas Cage when he hugged his Lula portrayed by Laura Dern. However, this homage to Native Americans blends with the power of pop culture and musical rhythms.

The walls come alive with images of a desert as the french brand’s cowboys make their grand entrance amidst cowboy hats, black leather jackets adorned with long rodeo fringes, embroidered double denim jeans fit for riding bulls in the arena, and tips embellishing shirt collars and Texan boots. Pixelated patterns reimagine the classic cowhide for a new Cowmooflage, crafted inlaid buckles adorn bags, and the maison’s signature patterns, such as the Damier, are reinvented with turquoise accents and denim details. This is an immersive experience in the American style, with workers showcasing a valuable collaboration with the iconic yellow Timberland boots customized by the Fashion House, worn or displayed in a handcrafted case. An item worth collecting.

Judgment. The soundtrack could not disappoint. The four original tracks included Doctor by Pharrell Williams x Miley Cyrus, a true queen of country music. The musical and stylistic fusion between the designer and Bernard Arnault’s brand continues.
