In Loewe’s impossible garden

Carnivorous plants clutching bodies, carnal flowers sprouting to cover the breasts. Or that giant anthurium that greeted you as soon as you entered the huge room, a flower the size of a museum installation, born where a bud could not appear. «An illusion, between real and fake, between true and false», Jonathan Anderson, Loewe's creative mind, explained to MFF.

 He surely takes a new journey into what is surreal, a territory very congenial to him. Among high heels covered in deflated balloons, tops with a mega anthurium rising around the bust, waves of fabric like draperies suspended from rigid tie-rods, square silhouettes in the skirts of the dresses and shiny bodices with flower designs resembling certain vases found in country houses.

Right out of a hunting trip seem to come out the forest green jackets cut short, with that sharp hand that also forges mini dresses line sculptures for Royal dolls that becomes design in Anderson’s hands who asks her friend, actress Taylor Russel, to open the show for the LMVH Maison. The lines get blurry, almost pixelated in the sweaters, from the oversize exaggeration with leather coats, in dresses-sporty sweatshirts with sleeves that touch the ground and in the shields inserted in the sweater and under a cardigan.

Judgement. Anderson in Wonderland. The impossible garden he imagines is a genuine playground of iconic pieces that is worth a trip. More than just clothes, they are objects with a design history, they become dreams turning into living sculptures. All in an atmosphere that suspends all reality. (All rights reserved)
