Hommage à Pierre Cardin

«I create for tomorrow», the couturier stated in a video projected at the beginning. This avant-garde force is evoked in the most recent models parading on the catwalk after those designed by Cardin himself, who worked until the end. They were created by the studio, evoking the master’s movements and thus remaining faithful to him. With trapezoidal sheath dresses, square-shouldered jackets and hybrid materials. More than a hundred models for both men and women, about whom Rodrigo Basilicati Cardin, Pierre's nephew and current creative director, underlined: «With an uncompromising strength and an immediate recognizability», they appear under the stars of the Bourget and re-establish a dialogue with the public without nostalgia, but full of dynamism, using their manifesto colours: yellow, green, red, blue... often worn in vibrant associations.

However, the lights also reflect on shiny lamé dresses in a playful way. Big screens pick up the images, magnifying them, in a crescendo of special effects that culminate with the arrival of a wild bride who dances on stage lifting the flaps of her panel skirt. After her, a procession of cosmonauts with helmets under their arms and the maison's executive and family team parade, greeting the audience, among which there are many students from the greatest fashion schools. The show ends with cosmonaut suits, made by technical and sustainable fabrics, and accessories such as suspended hoops or a tubular waist ring, creating a catwalk which features the collections that projected Cardin into the firmament of the greats.
