An all-white room inside the Palais Brongniart for the glow of crystals, stones and iridescent fabrics to captivate the eye. Fendi's couture closed Paris haute couture week by weaving an ideal journey between East and West. «In this collection we looked at fragments of different cities, Kyoto, Paris and Rome», Kim Jones, creative director of womenswear at the Lvmh fashion house, explained. «Like fragments of memory or impressions of past, present and future».

The incipit was in the name of absolute simplicity. Cognac-colored total looks, vicuña and leather suits with surgical cuts defining the silhouettes were illuminated by glints of crystals. They rested on the fringe decorating the high heels as well as becoming bijoux on short satin gloves. While precious cascades of diamond earrings with an Art Deco soul, made by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, shone at every step. In an instant you got transported in Japan thanks to a sequence of long dresses evoking 18th-century kimono fabrics. Reproduced in Kyoto as traditional silk panels, they were reshaped directly onto the body, made with a special technique named Kata Yuzen, a form of hand painting that has remained unchanged over the years.

Anticipating the gentleness of maple leaf embroideries leading to the delicate tulle gowns of the finale, which were interrupted by a triumph of crystal nets caging the body, evoking the opulence of the Ville Lumière and citing its architectural spirit. In the collection there is a constant dialogue between male and female in the sign of the same preciousness, which in the first case is hidden in the richness of the fabrics or in the structural details of the garments, while in the second it is loudly shouted. Judgment. "This season I decided to take a step back from Rome or at least put this city in a global context," Kim Jones explained. He focused on the richness of materials to create haute couture that is not ashamed to proclaim itself as such, among crystals, sophisticated fabrics, glittering details and precious jewelry with an Art Deco spirit.
