EnglishArmani’s megayacht launching
The Italian Maison enters the nautical world with a 72-meter Admiral megayacht that was unveiled on February 11 at partner The Italian Sea Group Headquarters. «A stimulating project that allowed me to create customized spaces like made-to-measure clothing», the designer explained. The yacht will be delivered in early 2024
«The sea and design are two of my greatest passions. With this new collaboration, I have extended my idea of furnishing and decor to the nautical world, in which – just as in fashion – aesthetics and functionality come together in a natural and elegant style». These are the words designer and entrepreneur Giorgio Armani chose to christen his entry into the nautical world, anticipated by MFF as early as spring 2021. Built in partnership with The Italian sea group, the new Admiral megayacht is unmistakably signed by Armani’s discreetly luxurious allure.
A 72-meter vessel that, for the moment, is still only a project that was officially unveiled on February 11 during a private event organized by the Maison at the nautical company’s Marina di Carrara headquarters. Launched in 2020 and developed by the designer and his team with the Admiral design center, the group’s flagship brand, this avant-garde megayacht is the result of an encounter between the excellence of the nautical and fashion worlds and will take off next year. This yacht is the first of two designed entirely by Giorgio Armani, whose unmistakable style is immediately recognizable in both the exterior lines and the refined interiors signed by, ça va sans dire, Armani/Casa.
The preview renderings show a timeless minimalism, which has always been part of the designer’s creative philosophy, that redefines the very essence of the high-end megayacht concept in a radical yet elegant way, basing itself on the principles of simplicity and sophistication. The design of the exterior, characterized by a clear architectural influence, features large, sharp, geometric volumes that are perfectly balanced with curvier, softer shapes.
Thanks to the large, full height glazed openings that punctuate the decks, the effect inside is one of being seamlessly immersed in light and the surrounding environment, which can be adjusted thanks to a clever positioning of sliding panels.
«It was a stimulating project that allowed me to create customized spaces with Armani/Casa – like made-to-measure clothing – with the same craftsmanship applied to the choice of materials, details and production», Giorgio Armani, president and sole director of the eponymous group, added. The Armani/Casa interiors amplify Giorgio Armani’s aesthetic philosophy, offering discreet, refined luxury and subdued tones. The décor is bold yet relaxed; the overall harmony is provided by a combination of elements that are skillfully combined into a space that is unquestionably exclusive and one of its kind. The apparent minimalism finds its counterpoint in the use of exquisite, refined materials, fine hand-crafted finishes, and a masterful mix of soft or vibrant colors. «This megayacht, the result of an exciting partnership of which I am extremely proud, is further confirmation of our way of being able to realize unique projects with Made-in-Italy brands of excellence that share our values», Giovanni Costantino, founder & ceo of The Italian Sea group, commented.
«Giorgio Armani is synonymous with timeless elegance and sophistication, and his stylistic vision has also increased our stylistic sensitivity. This yacht is projected to be positioned as a stylistic benchmark, also given the countless comments and regards we have received from various industry players. This therefore confirms our business model, which aims to customize every detail in order to make each of our works absolutely unique, in line with the vision and desire of each owner».
